Delete your TalkSignal account
You can delete your account and its data at any time.
The quickest way: in the app
- Open TalkSignal and sign in with your phone number. If you’ve removed the app, install it again from Google Play and sign in once.
- Go to Settings → Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account is deleted straight away.
If you no longer have your phone number
Email privacy@talksignal.org with the subject “Delete my TalkSignal account”. Include the phone number the account used, with its country code, and the name you used in the app. Before deleting anything, we will check with you that the account is yours. Never send us a sign-in code.
We usually reply within 7 days, and within 30 days at most.
What is deleted
When your account is deleted, we delete at once: your profile, name and photo; your contact list and the protected form of your number that lets others find you; your statuses and who could see them; your groups and memberships; your call requests; voice messages you sent; invitations you sent; notification tokens; and linked web sessions.
What expires later
- Service usage records, which carry no user ID, and the markers of which days your account was active: deleted within 36 days.
- IP addresses from sign-ins and code requests: deleted within 8 days. Counts of sign-in codes requested for your number: deleted within 3 days.
- If you reported a voice message, or someone reported one of yours, the reported copy: deleted within 30 days of the report.
- A record of any action we took on a report is kept, with your account only in a protected form. It holds no recording, name or number.
